A greeting card company needed to increase their order throughput from their warehouse to manage their seasonal demand. They historically operated with three manual lines and could pack up to a maximum of 700 boxes of product per hour to be shipped. During peak season however, they were unable to pack enough orders, leading to significant delays and breaches of their next day shipping commitment.
Rather than design a fully automated pack station, PSI’s Solutions Team recommended adding automatic case sealing and labelling, which would drastically improve throughput and provide an immediate ROI.
The small investment in an automatic carton sealer and label applicator was approved by the Company’s management and was installed that same quarter. The benefits to the Company were immediate. Each line could now handle 600 boxes per hour, allowing the Company to run only one line during non-peak and increase to three lines during peak season.
