Conveyor Systems
Conveyor systems are essentially the skeleton of your automated pack system. All touchpoints that you need to automate will be done so on the conveyance structure best suited to your floorspace and needs. PSI provides dynamic automated conveyance, sortation, and movement throughout the warehouse.
- Tailored conveyance and sortation solutions designed to optimize warehouse floorspace.
- Adaptable to packages and containers of varying size, shape, and weight.
- Modular builds that can be scaled or repurposed with ease.
- Scanning, tracking, and traceability throughout the line for near-perfect order accuracy.
Sortation
Sortation is a foundational automation function that springs up in almost every area of warehouse operations. The range and variety of sortation solutions available on the market is large, which can make the decision-making process complicated. Key factors to consider when choosing the right option include required throughput speed, package type, package weight, number of diverts or destination points, and whether you need a semi or fully automated system.
In the pack area, where the majority of carton sizes will be in the small to medium range in size, PSI has found the following solution types have the greatest impact on production efficiency, and the most impactful return on investment.
Pop-up Sorter
Pros: Low cost, modular, scalable, good for uniform products.
Cons: Lower max throughput rate, may encounter difficulties with light weight products.
Cross Belt Sorter
Pros: Adaptable to many different product types, can achieve high throughput rates.
Cons: High cost, not good with fragile products.
Sliding Shoe Sorter
Pros: Gentle mechanism is good for fragile products, adaptable to many product types.
Cons: Medium – high cost, rigid designs that are difficult to build upon later.
AMRs & AGVs
Autonomous Mobile Robots and Automated Guided Vehicles are an ideal solution for more dynamic operational challenges. These units can be deployed quickly and repurposed on the fly, which allows you to overcome the inflexibility of traditional conveyor systems.
They can be deployed across a range of applications, from precise tasks like order picking to more heavy-duty use-cases such as transporting raw materials, forklifting pallets, and towing load carrying vehicles.
