Singulator Adjustment Instructions

Safety Warning

PSI systems are comprised of many moving parts including gears, electric motors, belts, rollers, pulleys, and pneumatic actuators. PSI Engineering has attempted to reduce the risk of personal injury by placing certain safety devices in and around the system. Safety devices, however, can never fully replace common sense when it comes to protecting yourself or others from dangerous areas or situations.

Multi-Feed Fault Procedure

Step 1

Remove all documents from the machine.

Step 2

Open the accumulator safety cover and the sorter top transport to gain access to the singulator.

Step 3

Look straight down at the singulator dial plate and make a note of the red pointer’s position. Use a 10mm wrench to turn the adjustment nut clockwise by half increment to lower the singulation rollers toward the grabber belts

Step 4

Press the “Reprint” button to resume normal operation

Step 5

If multi-feed fault does not reappear for the next ten consecutive orders, then no further adjustments is required, otherwise

  • a) Repeat steps 1, 2, and 3
  • b) If multi-feed fault persists after step “a.” is perform, repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 one more time
  • c) If multi-feed fault persists after step “b.” is performed, contact PSI technical support for assistance

Initial Calibration Set Up

Step 1

To calibrate the singulator, cut a two inch wide strip from a piece of standard 20lb printer paper.

Step 2

Place it between the singulation rollers and the grabber belt (thick green belts below the singulation rollers) and then rotate the singulation module down to its lower locking position.  At this point, the strip of paper should slide freely between the singulation rollers and the grabber belts.

Step 3

Move the paper up and down the accumulator while turning the M6 nut clockwise half an increment at a time using a 10mm wrench. Stop turning the nut when the singulation rollers make contact with the paper and you feel resistance when pulling on it.

Step 4

If it becomes difficult to move the paper strip, turn the M6 nut counterclockwise half an increment.

Step 5

Begin normal operation. If a multi-feed fault occurs, adjust the nut by half an increment.
